Or have you already had bariatric surgery and are looking for additional support due to the changes or challenges you might be experiences after surgery?  Some challenges don’t come up until a year, two, or more after surgery or when other major life changes happen.  Often times, when individuals experience a major life change, such as moving, job changes, or loss of a loved one, old eating patterns can sneak back in, resulting in weight regain.  If you find yourself in this situation, Dr Fischer is free of judgement, empathetic, and will help guide you back on track.

Dr. Fischer is passionate about and has extensive experience working with individuals who are in the process of bariatric surgery.  She provides pre-surgical bariatric evaluations, education, and preparation.  She finds joy in helping individuals understand the major life changes that come along with bariatric surgery.  Educating patients based on their current and past life circumstances about what life post-surgery could be is a focus of Dr. Fischer’s, along with helping to reduce anxiety that can come up leading to surgery.

She has extensive experience working with post-op bariatric patients and a highlight of hers is to hear about patient’s successes and victories after weight loss.  She has compassion and understanding for those that struggle with changes post bariatric surgery and uses a non-judgmental approach when working with patients who might struggle with emotional eating, losing less weight than expected, relationship changes post-surgery, or other issues that might come up.

In 2004, Dr Fischer started working with patients struggling with eating disorders, such as bulimia and binge eating disorder.  She has worked in a variety of settings including residential, hospital, partial hospitalization, outpatient, and is currently the Owner and Licensed Clinical Psychologist of Dr Fischer Psychology.
